I would like to point out right now that I am 2 and a half hours away from writing my first term test in ECO230Y. It is apparently worth 1/6th of my mark, and looks to be out of 100. I can't say any of this with any certainty because the previous tests, much like the course as a whole, is both poorly organized and explained. The "answers" are more like really bad hints. Bad hints that are useless because as a whole, I find it hard to explain anything that I've actually learned this time around.
The test only covers two main chapters, one on the Ricardian model and one on the Hecksher-Ohlin model. The Ricardian model was taught in ECO100, so that gives me working knowledge for about half of the material that can be covered. The HO model just shows up as a bunch of graphs with little to no real explaination behind them. I understand what it touches on, but I have no clue as to how I'm supposed to use this to argue anything of value. I just want to throw my textbook at someone.
As of right now, I highly recommend avoiding this course (and the prof) at all costs.
