hey mike! havent talked to you since that sunday where thanks to ColdFx i did not contract the ugly disease that you were carrying. So instead of notifying the health board i decided to keep it quiet for your sake...lol. Anyway so i have decided after much thought to pursue a possible career in the field of journalism or to which one day i hope will be a career where people just listen to my opinions. So I figure that you have much knowledge on the process on making a visually appealing and functioning blog website. This would allow me to practice my ranting skills on a public scale rather than just in my car or at the park with a joint in my hand.

I come to you for your expertise because i trust your web skills and your site is pleasant to look at. SO show me the way or else i have another ADOBE SYSTEMS mess on my hands! hahaha i get a real kick out of myself.

Anyway im off on sunday and i think i am coming downtown to photograph random shit if you are interested?

Josh,

The good news is you didn't get sick. The other good news is that you didn't get ME sick. I'm placing the blame right on my brother, with a contact period of just after I got out of the car with you. You got lucky this time haha.

I'd love to go out and take pictures of random shit on Sunday. What time were you thinking of coming down? I know that I don't work Sunday - the only thing that could possibly conflict is my friend coming to visit. But I'm pretty sure I can pass him along to other mutual friends for a few hours if I need to.

In making a new blog, if there's one suggestion that I'm tempted to make right now it's "Don't use Movable Type 4.1". I just upgraded to it and it's been causing me all kinds of frustrating problems. From the looks of it, a bunch of people went out and each decided to write the slowest running scripts possible AND THEN they combined it all together to make the newest release of Movable Type. I'm currently haggling with support, who tell me that my old 3.2 license doesn't technically provide support for 4.1 because I got it in 2005 and it expired after a year. Bags. More money down the drain.

In the mean time, here are some helpful suggestions:

1. Think of a clever name for your blog.
This is always important. It's probably the second most important. The first would be having an amusing personality, or being rude like Strongbad. I feel you already have both of these things covered.

2. Browse around some sites and find what you like.
Visually stimulating sites I have recently stumbled across include GuitarAngel.net ( http://www.guitarangel.net/ ). As soon as I get a chance I plan on poking around her layout and CSS to figure out how she did it. Mentally stimulating sites include pretty much any blog by a Harvard professor. I have a good economics one that I want to start reading, but the link is saved on my Macbook and I haven't updated yet. Funny sites include Dooce ( http://www.dooce.com/ ) - she is god, and probably Jem (http://www.jemjabella.co.uk ) although Jem's funny is more of a "I get programming and smarts and you don't".

In the meantime, I'm going to try not to fail my Stats Term Test today at 2. And then from there, I'm going to continue bitching with MT Support, probably steal the $50 fee from my mother, and smoke a lot.

Mike

P.S. I'm probably going to post your message and my response on my blog because I find them amusing. Unless you have an objection.

P.P.S. Why do I enjoy Mushaboom so much? This song doesn't even make sense. NONE. NONE AT ALL. It's like old school Hanson (which I also recently acquired for my computer).

Warning!

MT 4.1 has been having some serious hang issues (thanks to my host) when it comes to posting comments. After you try posting your comment, go back and refresh the entry you were viewing. Odds are it will be there even if it told you it failed.
